Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Features Violinist Zina Schiff and Conductor Avlana Eisenberg on May 3rd

A classical orchestral performance in the Merrimack Valley, featuring violinist Zina Schiff and conductor Avlana Eisenberg

The Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to welcome back violin soloist Zina Schiff. This time, she will be accompanied by her daughter, Avlana Eisenberg, who will guest conduct Zina’s performance of “Wieniawski’s Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Opus 22 for Violin and Orchestra.”

Ms. Schiff, a Heifetz protégé, has impressed audiences on four continents with her special blend of passion, poetry and communicative power, through her violin performances. She has appeared on NPR’s Performance Today, WGBH’s Live from Fraser, and was featured on the TV “Nova” program entitled “What is Music?” Zina has made highly acclaimed recordings for movies and CDs; some with her daughter Avlana.

Avlana Eisenberg, now Music Director of the Boston Chamber Symphony, began conducting while an undergraduate at Yale University. While at Yale, she founded and directed the Silliman Symphony. Ms. Eisenberg has a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Michigan and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute. Avlana also is an alumna of Interlochen Arts Camp and the Aspen Music Festival. Her conducting experiences have spanned orchestras throughout the US, as well as Europe.
