Minuteman Players of Minuteman High School to present "Curtains" on April 8 & 9

Dramatic production "walks a fine line between harrowing and humorous"

The Minuteman Players, the student theatrical troupe of Minuteman High School in Lexington, will present “Curtains” for their annual spring production on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the school, located at 758 Marrett Road.

The show, written by Stephen Bill, walks a fine line between harrowing and humorous. It focuses on Ida (Alison Beucler, Medford), a confused and unsettling 86-year-old arthritic woman who is slowly dying in her home. Ida is cared for by her grandson, Michael (Patrick McSorley, Jr., Needham), and her longtime neighbor/friend, Mr. Jackson (Nate Dekin, Lexington).

Ida's daughters, Katherine (Michaela Ganimian, Stow) and Margaret (Abby Bucci, Arlington), come to cheer Ida up with a birthday visit, accompanied by their respective husbands, Geoffrey (Brendan O'Rourke, Arlington) and Douglas (Stephen Libby, Medford). The labored celebration is soon interrupted by the return of the prodigal third daughter, Susan (Catherine Maxwell, Arlington), after a mysterious 25-year absence. Susan's return soon sparks a series of harsh flaring tensions, struggles of moral conscience, and the brutal realities of promises broken.
