Mount Auburn Hospital Names New Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
Carey Thomson, MD, MPH Named as the New Chief

Mount Auburn Hospital is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Carey Thomson, MD, MPH, as the new Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Thomson has practiced Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital since 2005. She has served as the Division’s Director of Pulmonary Consultants since 2008 and as the Associate Director of Critical care since 2006. In 2006, she joined the residency program leadership as an Associate Program Director until her transition to the role of Director of Scholarly Activity for the program. In addition, Dr. Thomson is Associate Chair of the Mount Auburn Hospital Department of Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Thomson graduated from Dartmouth Medical School, and completed her residency training at Stanford University. She went on to complete her fellowship training at the Harvard Combined Fellowship program in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Concurrently, she received advanced training in epidemiology through the Channing Laboratory obtaining her Master’s in Public Health (MPH) in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Thomson succeeds Dr. Bob Schiffman, who served as Mount Auburn’s Pulmonary Chief since 1992.
