Myths and Realities of Affordable Housing
Panel and Discussion on May 21st at Temple Isaiah
On May 21st from 7:30pm-9:00pm in the Large Meeting Room at Temple Isaiah (located at 55 Lincoln St in Lexington), there will be a conversation addressing the need for affordable housing in suburban towns west of Boston. Panelists will include the Regional Housing Services Office, Lexington Housing Partnership, Lexington Housing Authority, the Lexington Housing Assistance Board (LexHAB), and Metro West Collaborative Development.
Topics include: Who is eligible for affordable housing? Who needs affordable housing in the western suburbs? What are market rate rents versus affordable housing rents? Can we provide housing for our teachers and our municipal workers who want to live where they work? If our town has reached the 10% Subsidized Housing Inventory mark, why do we need more affordable housing?
Action items and next steps such as House Bill 1111 will be provided for those who want to help or advocate for affordable housing and homelessness.
