New Dating Site Connects Bernie Sanders' Supporters

With a groundswell of support, the grass roots movement for Bernie Sanders has a strong presence, even dominates, many social media threads. There is no shortage of people connecting on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for those who are chanting Sanders strong.

But what about romance bonded by political bend? Those who support Sanders but who are also looking to date now have a like-minded dating pool they can dip their feet into - a place to find someone with whom they can discuss income inequality, minimum wage and corporate greed over appetizers and wine. And if that leads to a kiss and a second date, well, election time!

Trending heavily on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit, the new site berniesingles.com can’t keep up with the server demand, and is asking people to hang on while it is upgraded, and to like the new site on Facebook. Site owners said that it had received 1,000 members in less than an hour.

“We have our team working nonstop,” says the message on the site. “You can donate to get us online faster.”

In Middlesex County, FiveThirtyEight report showed 44 percent of Facebook likes went to Sanders, making it very possible for Lexington residents to find someone who they are not only attracted to, but someone that shares their political views.

The Facebook page notes that the site should be back up by 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
