Opinion- A YES Vote for Lexington Fire HQ

Lexington Firefighters Local 1491 support a YES Vote on Dec 4th for a new Fire Department HQ. Debt exclusion vote.

Your Lexington Fire Dept has grown over the years in response to the increased population of the town and all of the added responsibilities to the fire service. Fire HQ at 45 Bedford St is no longer able to support the emergency services that the town requires. Lexington Firefighters, Local 1491, humbly ask that you Vote Yes on Dec 4th for a new Lexington Fire HQ.

Here are a few important reasons why Lexington needs a new Fire HQ

- The floor below where the firetrucks park is failing and currently supported by heavy timber blocks.

- Utilities at current Fire HQ are inefficient and often require repairs.

- Fire Prevention has been in a "temporary" trailer for years.

- Due to lack of space, many pieces of equipment are stored outside.

- Proposed new Fire HQ will feature air handling systems that will keep carcinogens from gear and diesel exhaust out of firefighters living quarters.

- Proposed new Fire HQ will feature a training facility that will allow firefighters to train while in service for emergency responses.

If you would like to tour the current Fire HQ at 45 Bedford St, your Lexington Firefighters, Local 1491, will be hosting two open houses for prospective voters.

Thursday, Nov 16th from 9am-11am
Sunday, Nov 19th from 12pm-1pm

Please come out and see Fire HQ for yourself and ask your local firefighters any questions you may have.

A YES Vote on Dec 4th for a new Fire HQ will allow us to continue providing the excellent emergency services that the citizens of Lexington deserve.
