Police Log: Tip Jar Swiped, OUI on Mass. Ave

Lexington Police reports from Aug. 1 to Aug. 4. The following information was supplied by the Lexington Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, August 1

1:11 p.m - Someone graffitied the word "villin" on the roof of a garage on Hayden Avenue, according to police.

1:54 p.m - The manager of Boston Sports Clubs reported that an audio headset was taken from the facility sometime during the night of July 29 or the early morning of July 30.

11:49 p.m - A resident of Bartlett Avenue reported a man knocked on the door of his home and asked for help. The man allegedly had been struck on the leg with a baseball bat.

Tuesday, August 2

6:07 p.m - A car got stuck in a large puddle on the excavation site on Waltham and Vinebrook streets. The car was towed.

7:18 p.m - A man swiped a $20 tip jar from Starbucks from Mass. Ave, escaping through the rear door and driving off in a Lexus that was either gold or tin, police said. 

9:35 p.m - A report came in of a wire on fire on Wyman Road. Nstar responded and put the fire out.

Wednesday, August 3

10:19 a.m - Two cars were towed, one driver cited and another sent to the hospital after a three-car collision at 55 Waltham Street.

12:06 p.m - A car tire was reported slashed on Cedar Street.

12:15 p.m - Someone on Whipple Road reported their mailbox damaged by a motor vehicle.

3:50 p.m - A man came into the station to report that his silver trek hybrid mountain bike had been stolen while it was locked at the bike rack adjacent to the visitor center on Meriam Street.

7:45 p.m - Bruce R. Veivia of Arlington was arrested after a cashier at Busa Liquors reported him as highly intoxicated and driving away. The cashier had denied the man alcohol, and tried to stop him from getting in his car. The man was eventually charged with an OUI and marked lanes violation.

11:25 p.m -A resident on Bedford Street came home from vacation to find that a vehicle has smashed into the home's stone wall, and possibly backed into a pillar and broken a gate.

Thursday, August 4

1:46 p.m -An employee of a towing company on Mass Ave. found a Fottler Avenue woman's pocketbook. The pocketbook was lately deemed stolen from the woman's home sometime between July 29 and July 31.

3:41 p.m - A single-car accident took place on Lincoln Street. The car was towed and its operator cited.
