R. Todd Lancaster, MD, MPH, Named Chief of Vascular Surgery

Lexington Resident to Join Newton-Wellesley Hospital Medical Staff

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is pleased to announce that R. Todd Lancaster, MD, MPH, has been named Chief of Vascular Surgery.

“We are thrilled that Dr. Lancaster has joined Newton-Wellesley Hospital to lead our vascular surgery service,” said Dr. Michael R. Jaff, President, Newton-Wellesley Hospital. “His exceptional background and expertise in vascular disease expands upon our growing surgical capabilities. We’re proud to offer patients the highest quality surgical care right here in their community.”

Dr. Lancaster's practice involves management of the full spectrum of vascular disease, and he performs both open and endovascular (minimally invasive) arterial and venous surgery. His clinical interests include treatment of venous disease, thoracic and abdominal aneurysms and dissections, cerebrovascular disease, renovascular disease, mesenteric arterial disease and peripheral arterial disease. He also has an interest in clinical research, focusing on patient safety and the clinical outcomes of open and endovascular surgery.

A faculty member in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Dr. Lancaster completed his residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Vascular & Endovascular Surgery at MGH. Following his residency and fellowship, he joined the clinical faculty at MGH. Dr. Lancaster is an Assistant Professor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Lancaster earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and master’s degree from Harvard University School of Public Health. He currently resides in Lexington with his family.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital provides a wide range of services, including medical, surgical, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiovascular, emergency, orthopedic, neonatal, pediatric, hematology/oncology, and psychiatric care.
