Registration is now open. This event is free to attendees from the Minuteman school district, which includes the Towns of Acton, Arlington, Belmont, Bolton, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dover, Lancaster, Lexington, Lincoln, Needham, Stow, Sudbury, Wayland, and Weston. Bus transportation will be provided to select towns.

The goal of the event is to provide a stimulating educational setting for middle-school girls who are interested in STEM, would like to be mentored by members of Minuteman’s Girls in STEM Club (who themselves are being mentored by women in STEM careers), and who would benefit from doing STEM-related activities, exchanging ideas and being in a receptive and encouraging all-female atmosphere.

The facilitators are Minuteman instructors Becky Quay (Engineering) and Sarah Ard (Horticulture and Landscape Technology).

Minuteman’s Girls in STEM initiative has been honored with awards from SkillsUSA, a national organization for vocational students, which recognized it with a Grand Prize for outstanding Student2Student mentoring, as well as a Student Champions Award for Excellence from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) that was presented at the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators (MAVA) general meeting.

Minuteman is an award-winning regional high school which gives its students a competitive advantage in the new global economy by delivering robust academics along with powerful career and technical skills. The school is an accredited member of the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).
