Saugatuck Sweets Make Camper Dreams Come True
$5 of Every Sale Benefits the American Camp Association, New England's Campership Fund

This month, Saugatuck Sweets wanted to do something a little extra. They’ve brought smiles to children’s faces with delicious desserts before but now they’re going above and beyond! Through the end of July, $5 of the proceeds from each cookie cake sale at the Westport, CT location will help make camp possible for kids who normally would not get the chance.
Al DiGuido, one of the owners of Saugatuck Sweets, tells us, “We have always believed in supporting organizations that are focused on doing all they can to improve the lives of children in need. Saugatuck Sweets is proud to work with Camp Champions to assist in a small way in providing children the opportunity to share the great joy, happiness and memories found in camp experiences. Please do all you can to support our joint efforts to help these special children.”
“Al’s cookie cakes are actually helping campers twice,” said Bette Bussel, executive director of ACA New England. “You might buy one to delight your camper as a Welcome Home or Visiting Day gift. But buying it also supports ACA New England’s efforts to provide camperships to children in need. All those cakes translate into camp experiences for children who wouldn’t otherwise have them.”

Bussel also said, “With the incredible generosity of people like Al DiGuido at Saugatuck Sweets and Susie Klau, who worked together on this creative fundraising initiative, more of New England’s children in need will have a camp experience in Summer ’16. They are jumpstarting our fundraising for next summer because they both believe so strongly in the power of the camp experience to change lives.”
“Camp was the greatest gift my parents could have ever given me as a young child. I still take the experience of my many years as a camper everywhere I go in life today. The friendships, life experiences and wilderness adventures that I experience now will never compare to the ones I had at camp. Camp is truly the place for adolescents to build a solid foundation for a fruitful young adult life,” said Susie Klau, Camp Champions Volunteer of Westport, CT.
