Sports Week in Review, April 30 - May 6

Lexington High softball, girls' tennis teams receive key performances from unexpected sources.

Coach Frank Pagliuca readily admits this has been an up-and-down season where consistency has been elusive for his softball squad.

On Wednesday, . They scored five runs in the first inning and added six in the third inning en route to a 12-0, mercy-rule-shortened five inning win over Watertown High School. Freshman pitcher Maddie Orcutt, making her first varsity start, was dazzling in the circle.

On Friday, the girls’ tennis team also received a stellar performance from an unexpected source. Senior Alison Marqusee, usually a JV player, was inserted into the starting lineup for the first time in her career and she delivered. She and Caroline DiNapoli won a tight match in the No. 2 doubles position, 5-7, 6-1, (7-1).
