Sports Week in Review, Aug. 6 - Aug. 12

A recap look at the games and stories Patch covered in and around Lexington this week.

The Lexington Blue Sox recently wrapped up another successful regular season in the Intercity League, wrapping up the top seed for the upcoming playoffs. After a first-round bye, the Blue Sox will be going for their fifth straight league title and eighth overall.

Last Saturday night, Lexington was this season in the second to last game of the regular season. It was only the fifth loss of the summer for the Blue Sox, who had plenty of opportunities, but couldn’t push a run across home plate.

Lexington had baserunners in every inning, and the rally was squandered by the Watertown Reds each time.

The Blue Sox wrapped up the ICL regular season on Monday night, before it was time to focus on the postseason. On Friday, Patch took a closer look at , which is chock full of potential aces. Lexington leads the ICL in team ERA at 1.81. Its top four starters all have ERAs below 2.00, and their fifth starter, Sam Ginn, is not far behind, at 2.07.

First-round playoff matchups will wrap up this weekend and the Blue Sox will learn who they’ll face no later than Saturday night.
