Lexington standout helps Metro team to second place in Bay State Games soccer tournament.
The Metro team narrowly lost the gold medal match of the Bay State Games soccer tournament on Sunday, despite the best efforts of Lexington's Thomas Ballenthin.
Ballenthin, who will be a senior at Lexington High School in the fall, scored the game-tying goal, but the Southeast team claimed the championship with a 5-4 advantage on penalty kicks.
With his Metro team down 1-0, Ballenthin stole the ball from a Southeast player with sliding challenge. The defender quickly gathered the ball and rocketed in the tying goal.

The Lexington Blue Sox posted their fourth straight win with a 6-3 triumph over the Arlington Trojans at LHS on Monday night. It was also the Blue Sox's fourth straight win over Arlington.
Drew Brzozowski pitched a complete-game for the Blue Sox.

On Thursday, the Lexington Post 38 American Legion baseball team inched closer to the postseason with a 4-1 win at LHS. It was the second-to-last game of the regular season for Post 38.
Standout Will Marcal accounted for three of Lexington's runs with a bases-clearing double in the third inning. Jeffrey Chabre added an RBI single in the fourth.
