Sports Week in Review, July 2 - July 8

A recap look at the games and stories Patch covered in and around Lexington this week.

Summer baseball is in full swing at all levels, and here at Patch we have any fan of the national pastime covered.

This week, the focus was on the Bay State Games and the Lexington Blue Sox of the Intercity League.

Beginning Tuesday, Lexington residents and rising seniors at Lexington High School Nick and Connor Murray participated in baseball competition at the Bay State Games. The Murray brothers played for the Metro team as it took on some of the top high school talent from across the state.

Team Metro opened with a , on Tuesday, but fell to 1-2 in the tournament with a on Wednesday afternoon. The baseball competition wrapped up on Friday, but the Bay State Games will run through much of July.

On Thursday night, the Lexington Blue Sox returned to the field two days after they had a nine-game winning streak snapped. But, with Steve Bodnar on the mound, one of the team’s three aces, the Blue Sox quickly with a 3-0 triumph over the Watertown Reds.
