Sports Week in Review, June 4 - June 10
A recap look at the games and stories Patch covered in and around Lexington this week.

The tournament aspirations of scholar athletes across Massachusetts were both furthered and crushed last week, as the sectional playoffs continued. Several Lexington High School teams fell within both categories.
On Saturday night, the LHS baseball team by defeating Westford Academy in the First Round of the North Division 1 sectional. Will Marcal pitched a gem, and the Minuteman bats picked up timely hits.
But the good vibes didn’t last too long for LHS, as in the next round. On Monday, Acton-Boxboro handed the Minutemen their first loss of the season when it mattered most. The Colonials used a seven-run inning to pull away from Lexington.

The LHS softball team’s season ended on Saturday, in the North D-1 sectional Quarterfinals. The Minutemen with the smoking-hot Malden bats, which posted 11 runs in the game.
After the boys’ lacrosse team fell to Duxbury on Wednesday, the top-seeded boys’ tennis team remained the lone Lexington team left in the tournament fields.

On Monday, the Minutemen picked up a 5-0 sweep over Westford Academy in the Quarterfinal round. Two days later on Wednesday, they followed that performance with , this time ending the season for Andover High School.
On Friday, the Minutemen took on St. John’s Prep of Danvers in the sectional final. It was Lexington’s section straight trip to the sectional championship round.
