LHS soccer teams take the field; girls' swimming preview.

The Wakefield High School girls' soccer team didn't put up much of a fight against the Lexington High School last Saturday.

In the second game of the season, the Minutemen trounced the Warriors 6-0 at Lincoln Park.

Lexington led by just one goal at halftime, but exploded for five more in the game's final 40 minutes. Lexington coach Frank Pagliuca said the big victory was a nice rebound from the Minutemen's tough loss in the season opener.

On Monday, Lexington Patch caught up with the LHS girls' swimming team to preview its fall season. The team is led by a group of four senior captains, but also boasts plenty of freshmen talent that will develop over the next four years.

The Lexington's boys' soccer team played Winchester to a 2-2 tie in a rough game at Lincoln Park. Three yellow cards were handed out, with two going to the Minutemen.

All the scoring was done in the first half. Lexington opened up a 2-1 lead and held it until Winchester tallied the tying goal with about six minutes remaining before halftime. Neither team could push across the go-ahead score in the second half and the game finished in a tie.
