Anita Bonna, the Bedford VA’s Telehealth coordinator, said the Telehealth Education Delivered truck will be at the Bedford VA Oval from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some of Bedford VA’s clinical technicians and home Telehealth RN’s will staff the truck along with a GlobalMed representative.

Bonna said Veterans can have free blood pressure screenings and register for care at a My HealtheVet table outside of the 34-foot truck. Veterans can also experience hands on demonstrations of the new Clinical Video Telehealth technology that is designed to give Veterans more convenient and accessible care.

She explained the Telehealth program will be good for Veterans who may not be able to travel long distances to and from the Bedford VA to meet with their doctor. Instead, they can go to their local Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Gloucester, Haverhill and Lynn where they can utilize computer video conferencing to meet with their health care provider face to face. Physicians will be able to make diagnoses, manage care, perform check-ups, and actually provide care with Telehealth.

Bonna also said some Veterans may be able to access Telehealth from the comfort and convenience of their homes early in the morning or late afternoon.
