Vote Michelle Ciccolo Tuesday Sept 4!

Michelle has the progressive values and experience to best serve Lexington and Woburn. #Ciccolo4Rep

You've probably been seeing signs for this Tuesday's primary around town for a few months now. I knew the election was coming, saw the signs, and had the pleasure of speaking with a few of the candidates for the State Representative for Lexington and Woburn over the summer, but... hadn't made up my mind about whom I wanted to vote for - until I watched the debate hosted by outgoing Representative Jay Kaufman on Lexmedia.

While there are five excellent candidates running for the position, I was most impressed by both the preparation and the track record of current Lexington Selectperson, Michelle Ciccolo. She was not only willing to take strong stands on important issues like gun regulation, transportation, the environment, and education, she had clearly done her homework as to what bills are currently making their way through the House. She seemed ready to hit the ground running.

Michelle has been endorsed by numerous groups, including Moms Demand Action, as a gun sense candidate, the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus, and the Environmental League of Massachusetts - for a full list and more information you can click here.

Subsequently, I attended a women's event at which Michelle spoke, along with the current representative of Plymouth, Joan Meschino, both incredibly inspiring. Did you know that only 39 of 160 members of the MA
House of Representatives are women?

Michelle has 25 years of experience in local and community politics, starting as town manager in Hudson and leading and participating, working with state agencies and government officials to revitalize the downtown area of Hudson. That lead to her working on the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, which does policy work and planning for transportation, housing, social equity, procurement... writing legislation, testifying at the state house, and moving an agenda forward that helps the entire region. She has an incredibly strong background and progressive values, and I believe is the best candidate for the job.
