UPDATED: Voters Approve Funding for New Minuteman High School
The fate of the new Minuteman High School has been decided.

The fate of the new Minuteman High School has been decided, as voters across the district decided in favor of approving the $144.9 million in bonding for the construction of the school.
Acton, Arlington, Bolton, Boxborough, Concord, Dover, Lancaster, Lexington, Lincoln, Needham, Stow, and Weston voted in favor of the funding based on current unofficial results. Belmont, Wayland, Sudbury and Carlisle opposed the project.
“The level of support was simply overwhelming,” said Minuteman Superintendent Edward Bouquillon in a statement. “I’m so grateful to the voters and to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen. This is a major milestone in Minuteman’s history.”

Tuesday night's passage also secured a $46 million grant from the Massachusetts School Building Authority. If the vote had failed, member towns would have had to come up with the funding on their own. Additionally, the district will pay for the rest through borrowing and through revenue generated by a new capital fee to be imposed on non-member communities that send students to Minuteman, according to an announcement.
The motion carried by an unofficial tally of 12,158 in favor to 5,320 opposed. Ten percent of voters turned out for the election.

“What this mean is that we’re going to build a brand new school for future generations,” Bouquillon said. “And we’re going to do it with solid support from the voters in the vast majority of our towns.”
