WATCH: Lexington Resident Tim Berners-Lee in the Olympic Opening Ceremonies
His appearance surprised us, too.
We told you last week about all of the and even what times you can tune in to catch them in action. What we didn't expect was for Lexington resident and web inventor Tim Berners-Lee to make a special apperance.
Apparently, we weren't the only ones surprised. This from our friends at the Huffington Post:
Watchers of Friday's opening ceremony for the London Olympics were thrown a curveball during the festivities. In addition the many athletes honored at the Olympic Stadium, a long tribute was paid to one Sir Tim Berners-Lee. Even NBC's hosts Matt Lauer, Bob Costas, and Meredith Viera seemed a little confused, jokingly asking viewers to "Google" his name.

While the opening ceremonies -- and Olympics coverage, in general -- has been widely panned through the first few days of the games, this local connection had to be a highlight for some of us here in Lexington.
