Water Main Testing in Lexington

Officials said water may appear brownish Wednesday.

The following is from the Town of Lexington:

Water main testing on Massachusetts Avenue east of Maple Street on Wednesday, December 3rd may cause fluctuations to water pressure and volume in that vicinity for a few hours during the day.To get through the day if you will be at home, you may wish to store extra water.

For a time, your water may be rusty or turbid. Please check your water before doing laundry. The water is safe to use and drink. To clear away the turbid water, after 4 pm, you can flush the pipes by running water for a few minutes using a cold water tap at a fixture where there would be high flow, such as a bath tub or laundry sink.
