City leaders say the deal, tied to Lowell’s Frontrunner City status, could transform housing, infrastructure, and economic opportunity in one of the city’s most densely populated, lowest-income neighborhoods.

3. Man flown to hospital after Saturday morning shooting in Lowell (wcvb.com) — Lowell police say a man was shot multiple times late Saturday morning near Chestnut and Ash streets and flown by medical helicopter to a Boston-area hospital, where his injuries are not considered life-threatening. No arrests have been made, but investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and report no ongoing threat to the public.

4. River Hawks Fall to Vermont on Senior Day, 14-10 (newenglandnewspress.com) — UMass Lowell men’s lacrosse fell 14–10 to Vermont on Senior Day in Lowell, despite a four-goal performance from junior Johnny Soi. Eight different River Hawks registered points as the young squad mounted several comebacks. The team now heads to Rhode Island to close its season against Bryant next Saturday.

5. The new Acton Food Pantry provides positive shopping experience, volunteer opportunities (actonexchange.org) — Lowell residents are among 71 communities served by the newly expanded Acton Food Pantry, which now operates four days a week near the South Acton commuter rail station. The pantry offers a dignified, choice-based shopping experience, including baby supplies, and relies on about 250 volunteers plus donations from area grocery stores and partners like Citizens Energy Corporation.
