LOWELL, Massachusetts, August 19, 2025 – Lowell Together, a new group in Lowell made up of community leaders from many local organizations, has announced their endorsement of Belinda Juran, who is running for City Council in District 3.

Lowell Together bases their endorsements on an extensive interview, conducted with each candidate with the potential for endorsement. Issues of importance include the unhoused population, affordable housing, immigrant rights, anti-racism, environmental justice, labor rights and unions, LGBTQIA+ rights, and disability rights.

“We are honored to endorse Belinda Juran. We were all very impressed with her, and with her responses to our interview, and are excited to support her as she runs for City Council in District 3,” said Marissa Dupont of Lowell Together and Solidarity Lowell. “Our group was created to not only assist endorsed candidates as they run for office, but to also continue to support them once they are elected. We look forward to working with Belinda for quite some time! One of our most important concerns is the treatment of the unhoused population, and we feel Belinda is prepared to take on this issue.”

On Belinda’s website she states, “Too often, we talk about ‘homelessness’ in broad strokes. Homelessness isn’t one problem—it’s many. It’s a family evicted after a job loss, a teen rejected by their home, a survivor fleeing abuse, or someone battling addiction or mental illness. Each story is different, and each path forward must be too. We need honest, informed discussions, grounded in data and compassion, connection with homeless individuals, and coordination with other cities struggling with these challenges to understand this issue better. This will help us effectively use our resources to find solutions that balance the rights of individuals with the safety of the community and ensure that we all recognize our responsibilities to each other and the greater society.”

In the coming weeks, Lowell Together plans to put together a canvassing and phonebanking team to support Belinda’s campaign, in addition to any other assistance that she requires. They are looking for volunteers. Please reach out to Lowell Together at https://solidaritylowell.com/lowell-together/ to sign up.
