Lowell Together Endorses Sidney Liang

LOWELL, Massachusetts, August 21, 2025 – Lowell Together, a new group in Lowell made up of community leaders from many local organizations, has announced its endorsement of Sidney Liang, who is running for City Council in District 7.

Lowell Together bases its endorsements on an extensive interview conducted with each candidate with the potential for endorsement. Issues of importance include the unhoused population, affordable housing, immigrant rights, anti-racism, environmental justice, labor rights and unions, LGBTQIA+ rights, and disability rights.

“Sidney Liang is our clear choice for District 7. Throughout the interview process, he has shown integrity, compassion, and the aptitude for the city councilor position. He has clear goals and the ambition to make them happen,” said Sebastian Nash, a member of Lowell Together and disability rights activist. “We seek not only to help him win but also to assist him in his goals after he is elected. His positions on inclusion, housing, and affordable health care come from a place of care and understanding, something we need more of in this city.”

Liang has lived through many hardships and has come out more compassionate for it. He is an experienced leader in public services including healthcare. On his website, he talks about how he escaped the Khmer Rouge and came to America with his family; how he lived the American Dream, becoming a respected member of the community; how he wishes to help others live that dream; and his experience in finances, resolving community challenges, and coming up with creative solutions for complicated problems would serve this city well. It would be a crucial step towards helping us build a better future here in Lowell to elect him in District 7.

In the coming weeks, Lowell Together plans to put together a canvassing and phonebanking team to support Sidney’s campaign, in addition to any other assistance that he requires.
