Backed by state bonds, tax credits, and $2 million from Lynn, the project targets low-income older residents and aims to ease both senior hardship and the city’s broader housing crunch.

2. Drive on the Lynnway? The state wants to hear from you (marbleheadcurrent.org) — State and local agencies are planning a major redesign of the Lynnway to improve safety and reliability for drivers, walkers, cyclists, and transit riders in Lynn, with construction expected to start in 2028. The MBTA and city partners want Lynn-area commuters to weigh in through an online survey after months of public information sessions. Federal and state funding of over $20 million will support the project.

3. Lynn Rotary Club awards $6,000 in scholarships (itemlive.com) — Four Lynn high school seniors have each received a $1,500 Rotary Club scholarship, open specifically to students who live in Lynn and are heading to college or vocational programs. The awards honor former Rotarians Thomas P. Maloney and Robert A. Hastings and spotlight recipients’ academic excellence, community involvement, and personal resilience across Lynn Tech, Lynn Classical, KIPP Academy, and St. Mary’s.

4. Lynn-based soup brand recalled at Whole Foods (itemlive.com) — A Lynn-based soup maker, Kettle Cuisine, has recalled certain 24-ounce minestrone soups sold at Whole Foods after shrimp was found in a cup without being listed on the label, posing a serious risk to people with shellfish allergies. The affected clear plastic cups carry Lot Code 1762181, UPC 099482502065, and a use-by date of May 27, 2026. Shoppers are urged to return the soup for a refund and contact Whole Foods or the FDA if they’ve had symptoms.

5. Senate approves $2.7B transportation bond bill (peabodyweeklynews.com) — A new $2.7 billion state transportation bond bill could eventually send more money to Lynn and other cities for fixing potholes, bridges, and transit infrastructure. Lynn’s own Sen. Brendan Crighton helped lead the effort, which also funds MBTA upgrades and transit-oriented housing projects across Massachusetts.
