Almost 53 Percent Say Yes To Lynnfield Rail Trail
Wallace wins Planning Board seat and Markey is new Town Moderator.
LYNNFIELD, Ma. - Lynnfield voters once again supported the rail trail project, and once again it was close. In a vote announced by Town Clerk Trudy Reid at the close of Tuesday's selectmen's meeting, Yes got 1,858 votes or just shy of 53 percent to 1,677 voting No.
"On behalf of the Friends of the Lynnfield Rail Trail, I want to thank all those that supported the Yes vote to advance the Wakefield-Lynnfield Rail Trail project and to all those that provided input at the various meetings and workshops," said Vince Inglese, President of the Friends of the Lynnfield Rail Trail.
Reid said that as of 7 p.m. the turnout was 35 percent with the number expected to climb in the remaining hour.

There were two contested races. In the race for Planning Board, Thomas Wallace won with 1,992 votes to Alan Dresios 879. In the race for Town Moderator, Joseph Markey won with 1,596 votes. Al Divirgilio was second with 1,371, and John maria was third with 312.
