PHOTOS, VIDEO: LHS Girls Volleyball Finishes Season Undefeated

Team sealed 20-0 record with win over Salem High School on Monday - record over the past two years is 36-4.

The girls varsity volleyball team capped an epic regular 2011 season on Monday with a win over Salem High School, heading into the MIAA tournament with a 20-0 record.

The LHS girls won the first game 25-13 and the second one 25-5. Salem did come back to take the third one by a 25-21 score, but Lynnfield didn't let that loss go easily. Midway through that match, the girls trailed Salem by about 10 points only to end up tying the score 20-20.

For the fourth game, Lynnfield made their move to put the season away, starting off on a 4-0 run and eventually expanding their lead to 18-7 before finishing up with a 25-11 win.

On Wednesday, the team will find out more about their upcoming spot in the MIAA tournament and whether they have earned a first-round bye. Last year, the girls finished with a 16-4 record on their way to winning the Division III North title.

"It's very exciting," said Coach Michelle Perrone after the win. "I'm very proud of the girls. They worked hard throughout the course of the season. It's a very deserved honor for them."
