Lynnfield Art Guild Oil Painting Demonstration with Robert Farris

The Lynnfield Art Guild (LAG)
proudly continues its season with an oil painting demonstration by acclaimed
Lynn artist Robert Farris, Jr.  The
demonstration begins at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 20th at the
Lynnfield Senior Center, 525 Salem Street,  Lynnfield.
Doors open at 6:45 PM and refreshments will be served.  Mr. Farris’s awards include many Grumbacher
Awards and his work has appeared in shows throughout the North Shore, garnering
awards at the Topsfield Fair, including Best in Show, and First Prize at the
LAG annual show.  A popular lecturer and
demonstrator with an entertaining and humorous presentation, Mr. Farris’ work
is large and colorful, yet careful and precise. 'It's not what you paint . . . it's
how you paint it that makes the difference.' The artist uses a glazing technique and
complementary/analogous color theory to bring a crisp, fresh look to his
landscapes, still lifes and portraits. He is a full range colorist who draws inspiration
from old Dutch painters and uses their technique of glazing. Mr. Farris studied
with Lynn artist Charles Impel and at the Massachusetts College of Art.  His paintings have been shown at many New
England galleries and are in private collections around the world, including
the American Embassy in Lima, Peru.  Mr.
Farris founded Wood End Studio in Lynn in 1991 and has been teaching his
technique there since 1995.
