Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative's 2018 Lenten Mission
This year's theme was "water" – essential to both our physical and spiritual lives.
Every year during the season of Lent, the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative offers a three-day Lenten Mission. Sometimes described as “a retreat that comes to you,” a Lenten Mission brings opportunities for quiet reflection, group worship, participatory discussion, and inspirational presentations in a format that fits into the demands of daily life.
This year’s theme was “water” – essential to both our physical and spiritual lives. On March 5, Chris Donoghue, an evangelization consultant for the Archdiocese of Boston, encouraged attendees to think about their faith in the context of rules versus relationships, and asked people to consider how they are rooted in Christ, “the living water.” On March 6, Donna Hegan, Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative Pastoral Associate, focused on the Biblical story of the “woman at the well” and challenged those in attendance to ponder their roles as water carriers and evangelizers in life. On March 19, Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative’s Deacon Ed Elibero led a meditation on Jesus’ own baptism and asked congregants to renew their baptismal vows.
