Lynnfield Fire Awarded SAFE and Senior SAFE Grants

The fire department was awarded nearly $7,000 for public fire education efforts.

LYNNFIELD, MA—The Lynnfield Fire Department has just announced that it has received some added tools to educate the public about fire safety.

The department announced through its Facebook page Monday that it has received $4,237 for Student Awareness of Fire Education(SAFE) grants and $2,716 in Senior SAFE grants. 229 departments were awarded SAFE and Senior SAFE grants on Jan. 13.

According to the Massachusetts Office of Public Safety and Security, the grants help to deliver age-appropriate fire and life safety lessons that help both students and seniors. The SAFE program also meets the requirements of the Department of Education's health curriculum frameworks.
