The varsity girls bb squad took on the Georgetown Royals for the second time this season having beaten them before the Christmas break. Observers were anxious to see what effect,if any, having come from 22 points behind at Newburyport only to lose by 4 would have on the Pioneers. LHS previously beat Georgetown by breaking its press and by trapping their guards.
However, this day got a different result as Lynnfield began by playing a soft zone. Georgetown's Kristen Hogan took advantage by hitting four wide open three pointers in leading them to a 19-7 first period lead. Fama, Mancini and Festa were the leading Lynnfield scorers.

LHS pared the lead down to 8 at the half with G'town ahead 34-26. Jillian Fama had 10 pts and Kelsey Mancini 7 points.
Having made inroads in cutting the G'town lead , the expectation was that the Pioneers would continue to use its pressure defense to start the third period. Coach MacDonald opened with the zone. Luckily G'town had cooled off and scored only 7 third period points but the Pioneers could only score 9 itself 5 from Fama and 4 from Mancini. The score at the end of the third period was G'town 41 Pioneers 35.
