Lynnfield Voters (All 532 Of You) Say Yes To Marijuana Ban
Small turnout but strong vote in support of ban.

Maybe it was the beautiful weather, maybe it was the lack of a single contested race, but just a handful (532) of Lynnfield's 9,200 voters turned out at Monday's annual town election.
There were eight winners and just one loser, marijuana. On the referendum question asking voters whether or not to ban the sale of marijuana, 370 voted yes, 149 no. The outcome matched the November ballot question when Lynnfield residents voted against legalizing marijuana in the state.
"It was certainly a strong yes vote," said Board of Selectmen member Phil Crawford.

Crawford, one of the eight elected without opposition, started the night as chairman of the Selectmen but ended it as the new clerk after the election results were announced by Town Clerk Trudy Reid. Chris Barrett became the new chairman while Richard Dalton slid into the vice-chair.
Crawford, Arthur Bourque (moderator), Bonnie Celi (assessors), Brian Charville (planning board), Robert Calamari (library trustee), Janine Rodrigues-Saldanha (library trustee), and Gerald Shulman (housing authority) all won their seats.

But the biggest winner in the town had nothing to do with an election. Lynnfield wrestling/tennis coach Craig Stone was honored with proclamation from the Board of Selectmen and Senator Tom McGee brought a letter and citation from the legislature. Stone has won almost 1,100 games as a coach in Lynnfield.
The board also voted in support of the final agreements surrounding the purchase and sale of the Centre Farm property. "I can't think of a better scenario than what's happening here," said Crawford.
Town Administrator Jim Boudreau also said Lynnfield's new Facebook page should debut in the next week or so.
