Sports Roundup: Lynnfield Boys Tennis Falls Short of Tourney

The Lynnfield High boys tennis team lost some key matches down the stretch to miss out on the playoffs with a 5-11 record.

After picking up a pair of wins last week over Masco Ipswich, the Lynnfield High boys tennis team needed to win its final three matches if it wanted to make the playoffs. But the Pioneers dropped three close, 3-2 matches down the stretch to miss out on the post season.

Againts North Reading, Lynnfield's James Hook (first singles) and Nick Romano (second singles) were the only two winners.

"I am really proud of the way we fought this week," said Lynnfield coach John Harrison. "Nobody on our team gave up. Every match these kids gave their best effort and represented Lynnfield honorably. We finished with the same record as last year but we feel we have a lot of young talent to build off of. We have our top  three singles players returning for their junior year and three rising doubles stars who are going to be sophomores and juniors. I feel very good about the future of this team"
