PHOTO: In Memory Of Johnny Pesky
Red Sox legend died Monday at the age of 92. Local resident and photographer David Watts, Jr. got this photo of him back in 2009 during a chance encounter in Oregon.

On Monday, Red Sox fans were saddened to learn of the death of Johnny Pesky, the legendary shortstop, coach and general baseball personality.
This photo was taken by David Watts, Jr. of Wakefield back in 2009 after a chance meeting in a hotel during a visit to Oregon. According to Watts, Pesky was born in Portland in 1919 and was back in the city with his son for a minor league all star game.
"One of the great things about being a photographer has been the opportunity to become acquainted with a large range of people – famous and not so famous. In this case, it was the irony of having travelled 3,000 miles and making a portrait of Pesky who lived about twelve miles from me," wrote Watts in an email to Wakefield Patch.

With that in mind, does anybody else have any memories or thoughts on the life of Johnny Pesky? One time I drove past him on the Lynnfield/Lynn rotary, but that's about all I've got for this one.
