Reid's Ride Raises $150K For Youth Cancer Research
About 400 cyclists participated in 8th annual ride from Lynnfield to Gloucester. This year also marks establishment of new clinic at Tufts.
The 8th annual Reid's Ride raised more than $150,000 to fight cancer in young people, drawing more than 400 cyclists who rode 28 miles from Lynnfield High School to Stagefort Park in Gloucester on Sunday morning.
Riders head up Main Street in Lynnfield into Middleton, passing through Danvers, Beverly and Manchester on the way into Gloucester. The riders pay a registration fee and agree to raise a minimum of $125 in donations to the Reid Sacco Memorial Cancer Research Fund. The event is in memory of a 2003 Lynnfield High School graduate who died of cancer at age 20.
This year's event was also noteworthy because the Sacco family has just announced the establishment of the . The new clinic will serve adolescent and young adult cancer patients.
