Sandy Hook Mom To Speak At Saint Maria Goretti On Nov. 18

Her 6-year-old son Jesse was murdered in his first-grade classroom at Sandy Hook.

Scarlett Lewis, mother of Jesse, a victim of the 2012 Sandy Hook tragedy, will be speaking on the “Choose Love Movement” at Saint Maria Goretti Church (112 Chestnut Street, Lynnfield) on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 pm. The event is sponsored by the Lynnfield Clergy Association and is open to the Lynnfield-Wakefield community and surrounding towns.

Six-year-old Jesse was murdered in his first-grade classroom at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012, alongside 19 of his classmates and six educators in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history. In a true act of courage and love, he used his final moments to heroically save six of his classmates while he stayed by his teacher’s side.

Using Jesse’s example of courage, Scarlett decided to become part of the solution to the violence we are experiencing today and started a worldwide movement to choose love. In Scarlett’s words, “Although we can’t choose what happens to us, we can always choose how to respond. Children can learn to choose a loving thought over an angry one.”
