COACH'S BACKGROUND:
This is my first year as the Pioneers head coach. I am returning to coaching after coaching the Winchester Girls Tennis Team in 2009. We were fortunate to win the Division 2 State Championship, going 24-0 that season. I am currently a high school math teacher at Reading Memorial High School.

OUTLOOK:
I'm very excited about the upcoming season. We have terrific senior leadership and a bright future with three sophomores starting at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Singles. We will also have a veteran, senior captain, doubles team to begin the season at first doubles. Our team continues to work hard in practice and I think we will see great results on the court this season.
PIONEER CAPTAINS:
Andrew Fabiszewkski and Patrick Burgess. Andrew and Patrick are terrific role models for their peers. They come to practice ready to work, demonstrate a respect for the sport and for their teammates, and they are a lot of fun to work with. The kids on the team really look up to them and I rely on them and value their opinions. I think they are going to have a lot of fun as a doubles team and experience great success as well.
STARTING AT SINGLES
1st Singles: James Hook
2nd Singles: Nick Romano
3rd Singles: Kevin Carr
All three of these sophomores are going to continue to improve and I look forward to seeing their growth this season.
1st Doubles: Andrew Fabiszewski and Pat Burgess
RISING STARS:
We have two freshmen joining the team, Will Durkee and Luv Karia. In addition to sophomore Alex Rugato, we also have a German Exchange student, Felix Funke, and a senior nucleus of Matt O'Brien, James Ingill, Roman Pham, Tom Staffier.
STRENGTHS:
The kids are self-motivated and really want to be successful on the tennis court. While I've only known the team for a few weeks, I am already impressed with their willingness to learn, determination to work hard, commitment to help each other, and respect for the game. I think our strengths are going to be our "never give up on a point" mentality and our smarts. I think we are a very smart team.
