Two-Alarm Blaze Extinguished on Horseshoe Drive
Personnel from Lynnfield and several surrounding communities knocked down attic fire in large brick home before more serious damage could spread through the house.
Personnel from several communities joined the Lynnfield Fire Department Wednesday morning in knocking down a two-alarm blaze at a large brick home on Horseshoe Drive.
One firefighter reportedly went to Lahey Clinic with non-life threatening smoke-related injuries, said Lynnfield Fire Captain Michael Feinberg after the fire was extinguished, adding that when firefighters first arrived on the scene, the residents were already out of the dwelling.
The fire was first reported around 10:30 a.m. and firefighters spotted smoke coming through the roof when they arrived, Feinberg told area media outlets at the scene. He went on to explain that they found the fire in the attic and initially had difficulty gaining access to it, but once they ventilated the roof, proceeded to put it out "with a good minimum of damage to the house."
The State Fire Marshal was at the scene beginning his investigation of the cause at that time.
North Reading, Reading, Middleton and Wakefield reportedly assisted at the fire scene, with Pebody and North Reading providing coverage, reported Captain Feinberg.
