Weekly Sports Roundup: Lynnfield Boys Lax Wins Twice

The Lynnfield High boys lacrosse team picked up a pair of wins last week.

It wasn’t hard to tell that it would be a light week in the world of Lynnfield sports. The rain washed away nearly all the action during the week, but lacrosse has no limits and they were able to play three games this week.

In the first game of the week, Lynnfield went down 4-0 to start the game, but AJ Roberto burst open for three goals to get help the team grab a 12-11 win over Georgetown.

Roberto had five goals in the game and Frank Camissa tied the game at 4 with a minute remaining in the first quarter.

The two teams battled back-and-forth, but it was Lynnfield that got a goal from Matt Kelly with 2:21 left in the game to ultimately keep the Pioneers in the hunt for the Cape Ann League championship.

That win kept Lynnfield in the hunt for the title and its win over Manchester-Essex actually put Lynnfield in the championship game against North Reading on Tuesday.

Frank Camissa helped the Pioneers win 90 percent of the faceoffs he handled and Roberto finished with a usual mult-goal game with three.

In the week’s finale, Lynnfield grabbed a 11-4 win over Melrose. Camissa led the way with five goals, while Blake Stragder had three goals and three assists.
