9th Annual Malden Rotary Road Race To Be Held March 24th

The event is expected to draw 500 runners and is dedicated to the memory of Rotary Club members Warren Jackson and Charles Kelley.

The Malden Rotary Club is pleased to announce this year’s Malden Rotary Road Race, which will take place on Saturday March 24th 2012. 

“We are very pleased to have the Malden Rotary Club bringing together approximately 500 runners and dozens of volunteers for this wonderful community event.” said Daniel Hoffenberg, President of the Malden Rotary Club.

This year’s race is once again dedicated in memory of two all-time great Rotarians, Warren Jackson and Charles Kelley. All of the net proceeds from the Road Race will go to benefit the Malden Rotary Club’s community service projects, which range from scholarships for local high school students to a water treatment plant in Ghana.

President Hoffenberg commented on the impact that this event has and was quoted as saying; “The Road Race is our biggest fundraising event of the year and allows us to provide for those in need. Our mission of Service Above Self impacts people in Malden and even internationally.”

The Road Races also serve as a great community event. “Many of our runners have told us that this is 'the' best race that they will run all year,” commented Race Director David D’Arcangelo who went further to say, “We spoil our runners with awesome ‘Swag Bags’ and provide a family friendly environment that emphasizes a healthy lifestyle and community involvement.”

The Malden Rotary Road Race is actually two races, both being USA Track & Field certified, with a 5K course with flat terrain and a 10K with moderate hills. Race Day registrations start at 10:30 and online registrations can be completed at www.Running4Free.com.

The first 300 runners to register will receive a free race day T-Shirt, runner's hat, runner's gloves, coupons and much more. The Dockside restaurant will host the post-race awards ceremony which will be held immediately following the race. This ceremony will feature entertainment, spirits, and a family friendly atmosphere.
