MALDEN, MA — Road paving work is scheduled on several Malden streets beginning Thursday, Aug. 20, with additional work planned through Monday, Aug. 24, according to city officials.
Crews are scheduled to pave Cross Street between Main Street and Walnut Street, Fuller Street between Cross Street and Ashland Street, and Ashland Street between High Street and Fuller Street on Thursday, Aug. 20.
Any unfinished or weather-delayed work will be completed on Friday, Aug. 21, if necessary. Crews are also scheduled to pave Cross Street between Walnut Street and Henry Street on Friday. Monday, Aug. 24, has been set aside to finish any remaining work or make up for weather or construction delays.
The paving follows milling work completed earlier this month on Cross, Fuller and Ashland streets. The city previously said utility structure adjustments, wheelchair ramp improvements, sidewalk work, and other miscellaneous work would take place after milling and before paving.
No on-street parking or street access will be available in active work areas between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Notices will be provided to abutters, and police details will be on site during construction to assist with traffic.
City officials are asking drivers to seek alternate routes and allow additional travel time, with delays and traffic detours expected around the work areas. Officials noted that the paving schedule is weather-dependent and could change, with paving expected to move to the following day in the event of rain.
