MALDEN, MA — No one was injured after a vehicle crashed into a restaurant in Malden on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Malden Police and Fire Departments.
The crash occurred at Santa Fe Burrito Grill and Bar at 205 Pleasant St. shortly after 12 p.m. on Sept. 9, when a maroon Lincoln SUV drove through the front entrance of the business. Malden Police and Malden Fire Department Group 4 responded to the scene following the crash.
Fire Chief Stephen Froio told Pstch that no injuries were reported to the driver, pedestrians, or anyone inside the restaurant. The vehicle was later towed from the scene.
Pleasant Street was temporarily closed between Abbott Street and Commercial Street while emergency crews worked to clear debris from the roadway and surrounding area. Pedestrian access was also restricted near the restaurant, with pedestrians limited to the opposite sidewalk. Police said traffic was expected to reopen shortly.
Information such as the driver's identity and what caused the crash has not yet been released.
