Nearly 500 Without Power In Malden Due To Electricity Outage

Power outages are not usually a good way to start the week.

MALDEN, MA — Hundreds of National Grid customers are without power in Malden Monday afternoon, according to the company's outage map.

A total of 493 customers are affected as of approximately 1 p.m. The outage began at approximately 12:11 p.m. and is impacting portions of Washington Street, Main Street, Mountain Avenue, Linden Avenue, Clement Street, Everett Street, Summer Street, Florence Street, Bickford Road, and Maude Street, according to Malden City Hall.

Additional streets in the surrounding area may also be affected.

National Grid estimates power will be restored in approximately two hours. The cause of the outage has not yet been revealed.
