Mystic Valley Class of 2012 Graduates

Eighty students graduated from the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School on Friday, June 15^th. The Commencement Ceremony was held at the school’s new facility on Eastern Avenue. The class is Mystic Valley’s largest graduating class to date. Ninety-four percent of the graduates will be enrolling in a four year college in the fall. Thirty-one of the graduates were awarded the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship which entitles them to attend any state college or university tuition free.

Mystic Valley’s band played throughout the ceremony. The Invocation and Benediction were delivered by the Reverend Gerald Whetstone of the First Church of the Nazarene, Malden. Mystic Valley’s Assistant Director for Grades 9-12, George Benzie, spoke briefly to the graduates and then introduced Salutatorian, Fallon Bushee, and Valedictorian, Benjamin Soper.

After the awarding of the diplomas to the graduates, awards were presented to students who excelled in various academic subjects. The winners were: Overall General Excellence Benjamin Soper and Fallon Bushee, Art: Siobhan Gallagher; English: Shannon Bushee, Science: Abigail Vincent, Latin: Shannon Bushee, Spanish: Fallon Bushee, History: Leandra Furtado, Math Benjamin Soper and the Outstanding Effort Award was won by Ariana Mirzakashani.

 Father Paul Soper, Pastor of the Saint Albert the Great Parish in Weymouth and uncle of Valedictorian, Ben Soper, delivered the Commencement Address. Following Fr. Soper, Neil Kinnon, Chairman of the Mystic Valley Board of Trustees, congratulated the graduates on their accomplishment.
