Student Letter Prompts "Brothers & Sisters Day" Declaration

Mayor Gary Christenson declared March 4 "Brothers and Sisters Day" in response to a "persuasive letter" from Beebe School second grader Alyssa Littlejohn, who asked the mayor to consider creating a day to celebrate siblings.

Mayor Christenson declared Monday, March 4 “Brothers and Sisters Day” in the City of Malden.

At the beginning of this school year, the Mayor received a persuasive letter from Beebe School second grader Alyssa Littlejohn encouraging him to consider setting aside a day to celebrate siblings.

After meeting with Alyssa, Mayor Christenson was convinced we should observe the day and teachers were encouraged to find some time in the day to read books about siblings to their students and create drawings and artwork to be displayed in the classrooms.
