I lead a small English Country Dance in Malden MA in the Bay State Cohousing Dining Room. The co-housing residents welcome members of the public to join in. I play the melody on my fiddle while teaching and prompting. Our focus is dances of the 17th century that were brought to New England from Europe. For any who wish to try playing the melodies, sheet music is available and playing by ear or improvisation are encouraged.
These baroque tunes make one want to dance! The dances are accessible and the dancers are mostly newcomers, so don't expect a "performance" but rather a nice community event.
Sunday May 17, 3-5PM, come dance or play or just watch and listen at the Bay State Cohousing, 368 Pleasant St, Malden, MA. (Just one block west of the Malden Orange line T stop, and there is parking on Pleasant Street). Admission FREE! (Voluntary donations are welcome).
