Citizen Rep Wanted for Board of Health Commission

The Malden City Council is looking to fill a part-time position.

The Malden City Council is seeking a citizen representative for appointment to a three year term on the Board of Health Commission. This part time, stipend position, is for a qualified individual who can assist and advise the Director of Public Health and his staff in performance of many important and crucial duties relative to the protection of public health, the control of disease, the promotion of sanitary living conditions and the protection of the environment from damage and pollution.

The Board of Health typically has monthly public meetings in the evening, with additional meetings as required. Board members are required to review and adopt regulations related to public health issues, work closely with other community groups to provide health information and services to the public, and to hear appeals to alleged violations of various public health codes. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal service skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with elected officials and a diverse population.
