Committees Formed to Search for Permanent Superintendent

A 13-person Search Committee and four-person Advisory Committee hope to have someone selected by March.

A Search Committee and an Advisory Committee have been established to help determine the next permanent superintendent.

Dr. Charles Grandson is currently the interim superintendent.

The 13-member Search Committee will consist of three teachers, three school administrators, two School Committee members, a City Councillor, a student, a Special Education Parents Advisory Council representative, a parent, and a representative of a Malden business who is also a Chamber of Commerce member. Malden has retained the services of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees.

School Committee member Catherine Bordonaro will serve as the committee chair.

The members are:
Teachers Teri Malone (Beebe); Margie Briatico ( Ferryway); and Paul Degenkolb (MHS)
School administrators Van Huynh, Assistant Principal of the Salemwood School; Karie Carpenito, Assistant Principal of the Forestdale School; and Peter Dolan, Assistant Principal of the Linden STEAM Academy
School Committee members Mike Drummey (Ward 1); and Catherine Bordonaro (Ward 7)
City Councillor Jadeane Sica (Ward 8)
Student Representative to the School Committee James Mac
Special Education Parents Advisory Council Representative Marilyn Andrews
Business owner Hilda Torres, Executive Director of My Little Best Friends and member of the Chamber of Commerce
Parent Dawn Marie O’Toole

The Advisory Committee will assist with focus groups and public forums.

Serving on the Advisory Committee will be:

The committees hope to appoint a permanent superintendent in March.

The Search Committee's first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 5th at 5:30 PM in the Senior Center Auditorium.
