Kids in Malden, including kids with special needs, can learn to play baseball for free on specific Saturdays in January and February.

Article text and info submitted by Jim Nestor, Malden West Little League President:
The dates have been set for the second annual free winter baseball clinic for the
children of Malden. This year's sessions are on Saturday January 7th, 14th, 24th, and 31st as well as February (7th and 14th). Each session will be from 4-7pm split into two sessions. The first hour and half will be for kids aged 5-9, the second hour and a half for kids 10-13. As was the case last year, each week will be run by a coaching staff of one of the local high school teams or baseball organization.
Jim Nestor, President of Malden West Little League, stated “I am very happy to announce not only the dates of the clinic but also that Malden Catholic, Malden High, and Line Drive have already agreed to run a session again this year. We are awaiting word from a few more organizations on the specific dates they are available.”

In the second session, a portion of the Salemwood School gym will be reserved for the Challenger Division children to hold a game each week. The Challenger Division allows kids with physical and mental disabilities to play baseball. “I am very excited to extend the clinic to our challenger divisions kids”, stated Nestor, “we have a great program during the season and it is really something to see the kids enjoy themselves so much playing baseball.”
Also new this year, Malden West and East Little Leagues are teaming up with “Angel Baseball” to collect new and old baseball gloves to distribute to those kids who may not be able to afford a glove and would like to play baseball.
