Developer Presents 250 unit Proposal to Council for Hospital Hill

Developer sells high-density development to the City Council and requests to help write the new zoning ordinance required to allow it

Fellsmere Housing Group appeared before the Council to share their new plans for development of the Malden Hospital site.

Below are my highlights of the meeting.

A portion of the letter from the State suggesting this project was a good candidate for a $2.5M Mass Works grant, in a letter to our Mayor, since he brought it up on his last state visit to our City.

The developer understands below that their plan requires not just a variance, but an entire zoning change, as it is 4X the density currently allowed.

The developer suggesting he help write the new ordinance for their development.

Developer says NO to a 55+ development, becasue the young adult empty nester's could be 50% of their market.

Medford resident explaining the current traffic situation in the residential neighborhoods that this land is surrounded with.

Former Ward 6 Councillor spoke, and reminded everybody of the Moratorium Study and other historical information about what the citizens of Malden voted and surveyed for.

And the Councillor from Ward 3 reiterated the outreach that has been done and other concerns.
